Python Bitwise OR assignment

Python bitwise OR assignment is done with |=, the bitwise OR assignment operator

Example:

>>> x = 5
>>> x |= 3
>>> x
7

You can’t bitwise OR and assign to an undefined variable

Traceback (most recent call last):

NameError: name 'd' is not defined

You can’t bitwise OR and assign to a literal

SyntaxError: can't assign to literal
